„Final Fantasy Fan Festival“ in La Grande Halle de la Villette

Feb 2, 2019 | Concert, eSport

About 4500 fans of the Japanese online role-playing game made a pilgrimage to La Grande Halles de la Villete in Paris on February 2 and 3 this year to give free rein to their passion. High expectations were not disappointed, there was a lot for eyes and ears and of course for the fingers to play. In addition to various autograph sessions with main actors of the Final Fantasy cosmos, a cosplay costume competition or an exhibition with art by fans for fans, the stage of the hall became a multimedia hub of the convention. Special highlights were the concerts on the evenings of the two festival days. On Saturday, german pianist Benyamin Nuss and American singer Susan Calloway presented some pieces from the Final Fantasy 14 soundtrack to the audience; at the end of the performance even with the support of the composer Masayoshi Sokken. A brilliant conclusion to the festival on Sunday evening was, before the grand finale, the concert of the Final Fantasy 14 band “The Primals”, during which chief developer Naoki Yoshida also demonstrated his singing talent. After the Final Fantasy Festival 2017 in Frankfurt, dlp motive was responsible for sound, lighting and video technology for the second time on behalf of the company PlanetLan and this time also for the 200sqm Layher stage. 5 trailers were needed to bring the material to Paris. Not only main and delay projections of various sizes were realized, but also a creative and harmonious integration of LC frames into the stage design. Overall, the scenery was refined and there were additional projection surfaces and LC frames. The challenges that arose this year were similar to those at the last festival in Frankfurt’s Festhalle. The La Grande Halle de la Villette is also an old existing building, which was not previously planned for trade fairs or events. Regarding rigging, this had to be taken into account and the safety regulations applicable in France (trusses must be additionally secured) had to be observed. In terms of sound technology, the old building was met with a sophisticated audio system made of D&B equipment. The technical know-how of dlp motive was also in demand for the stage design. For the finale there was confetti and streamer.
